NW Orthopaedic Massage

About

NW Orthopaedic Massage is a treatment-based medical massage practice with highly trained professionals specializing in orthopedic and clinical massage therapy for injury recovery, chronic pain, and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Our clinic is designed to support outcomes-focused care through individualized assessment, evidence-based techniques, and collaboration with other healthcare providers.

We are not a spa or relaxation-focused clinic. Every session is rooted in clinical reasoning, movement analysis, and a clear therapeutic goal.

Our Approach

At NW Orthomassage, care begins with a comprehensive evaluation. Each patient’s history, movement patterns, and presenting concerns are carefully assessed to determine the most effective treatment strategy. This evaluation guides ongoing care and allows treatment to evolve as the patient progresses.

Our therapists use a variety of scientific, evidence-informed manual therapy techniques, selecting the approach that best supports each individual’s needs. Because every body and condition is different, no two treatments are the same.

We emphasize:

  • Individualized, evaluation-driven treatment

  • Clinical reasoning over protocol-based care

  • Continuity and measurable progress

  • Education and patient involvement

Patients are encouraged to take an active role in their recovery, with a clear understanding of their condition, contributing factors, and treatment goals. We prioritize patient education and active participation in the healing process.

Clinical Director

Maureen Parker, MS, L/AT, LMT, CES, PES, CCT, MMT  License # MA 00022740

Maureen has been practicing as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) since 2006, bringing nearly two decades of clinical experience to her work. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northeastern University with an undergraduate degree in Athletic Training and later earned her Master’s degree in Human Movement from A.T. Still University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She completed her massage therapy education at the Brian Utting School of Massage, an intensive 16-month program, from which she graduated in 2006.

Early in her career, Maureen spent eight years overseas in Europe and Asia, working alongside medical doctors, chiropractors, and physiotherapists. This international experience deeply shaped her integrative and collaborative approach to care, reinforcing the value of combining manual therapy with movement science and medical insight.

Maureen is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and is board certified by the NCBTMB. She acquired NW Orthomassage in 2014 and has since been dedicated to expanding and evolving the practice through innovative, evidence-informed techniques and philosophies. She specializes in orthopedic, sports, and injury-focused massage, combining advanced manual therapy with principles of sports medicine rehabilitation to create highly effective, results-driven care.

At the core of Maureen’s philosophy is a comprehensive evaluation process. She is well known for her guiding principle: “Let’s find the cause, not just treat the symptoms.” Her advanced integrative approach focuses on identifying dysfunction, retraining movement patterns, and supporting long-term change—rather than simply masking pain.

Maureen is a NASM-certified Corrective Exercise Specialist & Performance Enhancement Specialist, a ROCKTAPE and ICTA-certified specialist in cupping therapy, and a ROCKTAPE specialist in instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), commonly known as scraping or Gua Sha, as well as Kinesio Taping. She holds an intra-oral massage endorsement and is Level II certified in Amino Neuro Frequency Therapy (ANF). She also recently became a Level III Reiki Practitioner (Master), allowing her to integrate energetic work alongside her clinical practice when appropriate.

A lifelong learner, Maureen is deeply committed to continued education and the evolution of care. In late 2026, she plans to further her training in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition and Integrative Health. Her goal is to combine advanced manual therapy with functional and nutritional insights—integrating additional modalities to more fully address the root causes of pain, dysfunction, and chronic imbalance.

Katie Antonio, BS, ATC, LAT, LMTLicense # MA 61073488

Katie is a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and BOC-Certified Athletic Trainer with a strong foundation in both therapeutic bodywork and clinical movement care. Her healthcare journey began in 2014, when she earned her certification in massage therapy. Driven by a desire to deepen her clinical understanding of injury, movement, and performance, she went on to earn a degree in Athletic Training from Aurora University in 2020.

Katie’s approach is rooted in listening to the whole body—not just isolated symptoms. She believes effective care goes beyond addressing discomfort as it appears; it involves identifying underlying movement patterns, imbalances, and stressors that may contribute to pain or dysfunction over time. Her goal is not only to support recovery, but to help prevent injury and chronic issues before they develop.

Whether working with athletes pushing their physical limits, desk workers managing repetitive strain, or individuals simply seeking to move and feel better, Katie provides thoughtful, personalized care tailored to each client’s needs. By focusing on root causes and fostering greater body awareness, she empowers her clients to improve movement, reduce pain, and support long-term wellness.

Katie is committed to continual learning—both through the lived experiences her clients share and ongoing collaboration with clinical experts. This dedication has led her to specialize in cupping therapy, scraping (instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization), and Swedish massage. These techniques allow her to effectively support a wide range of clients, from those managing chronic pain or recovering from injury to those seeking improved mobility, relaxation, and overall well-being.
